About

Dive into the heart of the founding myths that have shaped human history through the temporary exhibition Mythologies, hosted at the Musée Bonnat-Helleu in Bayonne.

Created in partnership with the Louvre Museum and with the exceptional participation of the Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac Museum, this groundbreaking exhibition brings together nearly a hundred artworks from around the world: from Pharaonic Egypt to modern Japan, via ancient Greece and the Basque mountains. Among these treasures, 40 artworks are on loan from the Louvre and 20 from the Quai Branly Museum, offering a cultural and spiritual journey through the founding myths of civilizations.

Led by an expert mediator, explore the legends that have shaped our societies, meet mythical figures such as Hercules, Isis, Amaterasu, or Basque heroes, and rediscover the museum’s permanent collections from a fresh perspective. This one-hour guided tour is the perfect opportunity to understand how these universal stories still resonate in our daily lives today.
