About

The City of Hendaye is launching an exceptional initiative for the 2027 season by fully funding the training of future lifeguards. This ambitious program allows young people aged 17 to 30 to qualify for free for essential certifications to ensure the safety of Hendaye's beaches.

The comprehensive training includes:

  • 📜 BNSSA (National Safety and Aquatic Rescue Certificate): the key to becoming a professional lifeguard.
  • đźš‘ PSE1 & PSE2 (First Aid in Teams): mastering life-saving team procedures at levels 1 and 2.
  • 🌊 SSA coastal waters mention: a specialization dedicated to monitoring coastal areas, tailored to the specifics of the Basque coastline.

In return for this financial support, beneficiaries commit to monitoring Hendaye's beaches for two summer seasons, thereby contributing to the safety of thousands of swimmers each year.
