Opening of the exhibition 'You believe me the tide and I am the flood' by Alice Brinth

The neilag gallery is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition YOU BELIEVE ME THE TIDE AND I AM THE FLOOD, a solo show by artist @alicebrinth.

A solo exhibition by Alice Brinth featuring a body of oil paintings on canvas and wood, some of which were created during her summer residency at the neilag gallery. The artist takes on the sublime to question our fragile relationship with the world and reality.

The works in this new exhibition bear the mark of an intimate relationship with the landscape, where nature becomes the setting for a collective and personal experience. The sublime, inherited from the Romantic tradition, infuses her oil paintings: rocks, mists, stormy skies form a vocabulary where awe meets wonder.

Landscapes without human presence and mystical lights evoke both disappearance and the promise of a return: a mist that erases, a light of hope. Cliffs and forests broaden the range of motifs, while contrasting tones, between warm and cold, keep the canvas in tension.

The narrative that emerges is one of vertigo: this shift towards loss or renewal remains forever uncertain.
