Exhibition: "NADJA 'MY HAND WRITES WHAT YOU THINK…'"
About
On the occasion of the centenary of the meeting between Nadja and André Breton, Galerie Gallimard presents an exhibition devoted to Nadja, featuring exceptional loans from the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the Bibliothèque littéraire Jacques-Doucet.
The exhibition brings together a selection of letters and drawings sent by Nadja — born Léona Delcourt — to André Breton in the weeks following their encounter.
Nadja wrote her last letter to Breton in February 1927, before being committed a month later following a psychotic episode. She spent the rest of her life in the Bailleul asylum, where she died on January 15, 1941. Beyond surrealist narratives and literary history, this is the story of a life cut short, whose final expressions have been preserved.
Free entry from Tuesday to Saturday, 1pm to 7pm.
