Compagnie Luciole presents its documentary film Heartbeats of the East, an immersive dive into the new artistic scenes of the Balkans.

Since Tito and Ceaușescu, life has changed in the Balkans. So has culture. In Eastern Europe, where the West rarely looks, new artistic cultures are emerging: a women's choir singing to keep fascism in the past, a cobza player reviving the music of their Romani ancestors, actors betting on collective action, a drag queen captivating audiences with subtle strategies, and Romani teenage girls rapping to challenge the stereotypes imposed on them.

Heartbeats of the East offers alternative and modern myths about our neighbors to the East, stories of artists striving to build bridges between generations.
