BeeHive WordPress plugin
Events published on your WordPress website go to BeeHive on their own: creation, changes, cancellation, deletion. And your BeeHive events can be displayed on your website.
Version 0.1.0 · WordPress 6.0 or later · PHP 7.4 or later
What the plugin does
Automatic sync
With The Events Calendar or Events Manager, every published event is sent to BeeHive in the background, without slowing your website down.
Reviewed before publication
Every new event is reviewed by our moderation before it appears on BeeHive. Changes to a live event apply right away.
Your events on your website
The [beehive_events] shortcode displays your upcoming BeeHive events, wherever they come from.
Test mode
With the test key, nothing is published: every send is checked and its result shows in WordPress.
Set up in a few minutes
- 1
Create a connection
In your venue space, Integrations page, create a « Send and display my events » connection. Copy the test key and the production key: they are shown only once.
- 2
Install the plugin
In WordPress: Plugins > Add Plugin > Upload Plugin. Choose the zip file, then activate the plugin.
- 3
Paste your keys
In the BeeHive menu of WordPress, paste both keys and choose a default BeeHive category. You can also map your own categories.
- 4
Test
In test mode, click « Envoyer les événements à venir » (send upcoming events): each event shows the result of its test, without publishing anything.
- 5
Go live
Choose Production mode and send the upcoming events again. From then on, everything is automatic.
What happens next
Your website stays the reference: edit your events in WordPress, not in your BeeHive space, where your changes would be overwritten by the next sync.
- Event published
- Sent to BeeHive, then reviewed by moderation before going live.
- Event edited
- Updated on BeeHive.
- Featured image
- Becomes the event cover.
- Draft, private or trash
- Taken offline on BeeHive, back online if republished.
- Permanently deleted
- Removed from BeeHive, restorable for 30 days from your venue space.
- Event cancelled
- Stays visible with « CANCELLED » before its title, in your website's language, and without a ticketing link.
- Event postponed (The Events Calendar)
- Taken offline until it is scheduled again.
- Night out ending after midnight
- Shown on the right evening, with no extra night the next day.
The status of each event (in review, live, rejected) can be followed in the BeeHive menu of WordPress.
Display your BeeHive events on your website
Add this shortcode to a page or to a « Shortcode » block:
[beehive_events]
limit="6"number of events displayed (50 at most)exclude_own="yes"leaves out events sent by your website, already displayed by your events pluginlang="en"language (fr, en or es); defaults to the website's
The list refreshes every 15 minutes. A website that only displays events can use a « Display only » connection: its key cannot publish anything, even if the website is hacked.
Security
- Your key stays on your server: it is never shown again nor sent to visitors' browsers. If in doubt, regenerate it from your space: the old one stops working immediately.
- A copy of your website (staging, backup restored elsewhere) sends nothing to production until you confirm it.
- Bulk removals and changes go out gradually. BeeHive protects your connection against abnormal use, such as a hacked website, and warns you by email.
- The plugin updates like any other plugin, and updates are signed: WordPress refuses a version that does not come from BeeHive.
Good to know
- Supported events plugins: The Events Calendar and Events Manager.
- Recurring events are not supported yet: they stay on your website without being sent.
- Past events are never sent.
- Sending relies on WP-Cron. If your host disables it, a cron job must call wp-cron.php; otherwise, use « Synchroniser maintenant » (sync now) in the BeeHive menu.
- The number of events live at the same time depends on your BeeHive plan.
- The plugin's screens in WordPress are in French for now.
Another tool than WordPress?
The plugin relies on the BeeHive API, open to other tools: custom website, n8n, Make… Its reference is public.
